My home is in Opunake and I have lived there all my life, apart from time spent travelling overseas and a few years of living in the outback of Australia.

Although I’m a coastal girl I have family ties to Manaia. My grandparents lived here for many years and my father was born here and completed most of his schooling at Manaia School, alongside other members of his family.

As a long serving staff member it’s a privilege to be able to follow the threads of local families as they move through the school. It’s always lovely to see familiar faces and to be able to reconnect and build on relationships that have been made, as well as being able to welcome and support whānau who are new to the area and finding their feet in the community.
